Starting up a business can be hard work. Here is what you need to know. With the right resources it is easy to start a small business in Georgia. Before you get started you must identify the type of business you want to start and determine the following:

1) Will you need a business license? If so, what type of business license is required?

2) What tax structure is best for your business?

3) Do you need to register your business with the Secretary of State? If so, how will you register based on the tax structure sought?

Registering Your Business In Georgia

Determine whether you would like your business to be a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or limited liability company. As a sole proprietorship in Georgia you must register your business in the county you do business in. Registration with the Secretary of State is not required. A partnership is a business created between two or more people. As a partnership you are required to register your business in the county you do business in. Registration with the Secretary of State is not required.

Corporations and Limited Liability Companies (LLC) must register their business with the Secretary of State. The difference between a Corporation and a LLC is tax and personal liability. The Black Firm registers businesses with the State of Georgia and can give you the legal knowledge necessary to ensure your business is registered correctly based on your desires. The Black Firm also assists clients with business plans, corporate organization forms, trademarks, patents, and trade names.
